Paulo Merson

Biography

Paulo Merson is a Certified SOA Architect as well as a Certified Trainer for SOA School and Arcitura Education. He has over 20 years of software development experience. Paulo currently works in industry as a software architect and has been involved in various projects using SOAP, REST, messaging systems and other distributed systems technologies.

Paulo is also a visiting scientist at the world-renowned Software Engineering Institute (SEI) where he works with software architecture and SOA. He co-authored Addison-Wesley's book Documenting Software Architectures: Views and Beyond, Second Edition. He is also the author of several publications in the software architecture field, SOA, and component-based software development.

Paulo has been teaching professional courses to industry practitioners for more than 10 years. He has given invited talks and lectures at universities and companies in Europe and the Americas. He was a speaker at recent editions of the International SOA, Cloud + Service Technology Symposium. Paulo has also given tutorials or talks at several other conferences, such as JavaOne, Dr. Dobb's Architecture & Design World, CBSoft, and SD Best Practices. He's a member of the ACM and has served as organizer, program committee member or reviewer for several events and publications, such as IEEE Transactions on Software Engineering, Journal of Systems and Software, ICSE, WICSA, AOSD, WikiSym, and Early Aspects.

Paulo holds a BSc in Computer Science from University of Brasilia, and a Master of Software Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University. He is also a SEI Certified Software Architecture Professional.
